We underst和 that the transition from high school to college, or even from one college to another, can be daunting 和 can come 与 some challenges. We’re here to guide you through this journey, help you get connected to 校园 和 resources, 和 ensure that you get off to a strong start at Marian.

New Student 取向 和 欢迎周 are orientation programs designed to help familiarize you 与 Marian, build connections on 校园, 和 take care of important business prior to the start of your first semester.

我们还提供 continuous support 和 outreach throughout your transition. Keep an eye on your email, as we’ll be sharing lots of information prior to your first semester 和 guiding you through the processes to become a Marian 骑士.

Leadership Opportunities

Ready to develop your leadership skills 和 get a great experience on your resume? Some great opportunities provided through our office are 新生班板, 取向的领导者, 和FYS同伴导师.

新生班板 is a group of first-year students who help plan events specifically for freshmen. Guided by our FYE staff, the freshman class board will work as a team to plan, 做广告, 和 host a variety of events 和 活动 throughout the school year.

取向的领导人 are current MU students whose job is to welcome, guide, 和 mentor first-year students through New Student 取向, 欢迎周, 和 their first year. They’re the go-to people for when you have questions or are needing support.

同侪导师 are part of an FYS section throughout the fall semester 和 are responsible for leading 活动, building community 与in the class, helping students connect to 校园, 和 serving as a mentor 和 role model 为他们的学生.

社区参与

We know that becoming more connected to the 校园 community will play a big role in your success, so we host a variety of events throughout the school year. Some examples of events we've hosted in recent years include: Fall 节日, 冬天Bash, 夏天开始, 假日派对, 后门, 同学会的活动, 市中心的旅行, 和更多的! 

家庭接触

We’re here to support 家庭 as well. Whether you’re sending your first child off to college or your last, we want to help you stay connected 与 Marian 和 ensure you’re able to provide support to your student from home.

我们的 家庭的门户 is an online platform where you can stay updated on what's 发生在校园里, read stories from Marian students, 家庭, 和工作人员, 和 find tips to help you support your student. Through the portal, you can also sign up for our email newsletters. We encourage all parents 和 家庭 to create an 账户.

Ready to plan a visit to 校园? We encourage you to join us for 同学会, 家庭周末, the weekend of September 29-30, where you can spend the weekend enjoying events, 活动, 更多的是你的MU 骑士.

学术支持

As part of CASE (Center for Academic Success 和 Engagement), we’re eager to help you connect 与 academic resources 和 services 所以你 can achieve your goals in the classroom. Resources we can help connect you 与 include academic success coaching, 同侪教导, supplemental instruction, 学术顾问, 和 services for students 与 disabilities.

In your first semester, you will take a three-credit 一年级 研讨会 课程. This gateway 课程 is intended to help you develop critical thinking, 信息素养, 文化意识, collaborative learning, 和 other important skills that will serve you well throughout your college experience.

In your second semester, you will take Health 和 Well-being 110. This 课程 will provide students 与 the opportunity to engage in self-reflection 和 an underst和ing of their own well-being through the lenses of mind, body 精神健康.
